Regeneration and Sustainability begin with personal values and behaviours. Our approach to learning and development aims at human connection to communities and affiliation to the natural world through empowering educational processes.

feel4climate project

Feel4Climate is a long-term transnational project to respond to the growing need of providing a response to the growing climate anxiety among young people. supported by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme, and co-financed by the National Agency of Austria OeAD. Led by the Austrian civil society organisation Global 2000, within an international consortium made of Oriel from Italy; Eden from Albania; Psychologists For Future, Austria; Friends of the Earth Malta, and Rescogita from Estonia. Our specific task in this project is carry out the Quality Assurance by implementing a regular monitoring and reporting of the environmental and social impact of the project’s activities.

This 3-year long project (2024-2027) aims to empower youth, educators, civil society professionals, to join forces and to design educational and pedagogical approaches to equip the respective education and support professions to address climate anxiety and climate-related emotions when working with pupils and youth, and foster resilience and proactivity, countering passive attitudes, negative future outlooks and pessimism, and fostering resilience.

OBJECTIVES

  1. To shape and form cross-sectoral partnerships to address climate -related emotions.
  2. To create new educational practices as response to climate emotions among pupils and students and raise the partners’ capacities to offer educational support in dealing with climate emotions.
  3. To activate young people on the issue of climate emotions and the climate crisis, from diverse target groups, especially those at-risk of social exclusion to engage for climate justice and self-efficacy in tackling environmental issues; building a pool of multipliers.
  4. To expand the knowledge around climate emotions in and beyond our consortium, creating capacities to address and tackle the climate crisis as a cross-cutting theme.

TARGET GROUPS

The project addresses directly the following target groups and beneficiaries:

  1. Young people attending and participating in local youth centres.
  2. Pupils within the compulsory formal education system.
  3. Young activists and volunteers in environmental movements and organisations, as well as youth workers.
  4. Teachers, educational staff and learning-support professionals.

ACTIONS

  • Feel4Climate Toolbox: The consortium partners gain a comprehensive overview of each other’s expertise and experiences, assessing what needs to address in the toolbox and workshops that will follow-up, creating a timeline and unified strategy. For this purpose a development hub is established to envisage the results of the toolbox. The outcome will be a collection of educational tools, approaches and methodologies produced (or adapted from existing ones) as well as adapted to the wider international context and the local ones, for the delivery of these educational activities to the target groups at a later stage.
  • Feel4Climate Workshops and Booklet: Minimum 2 workshop concepts are developed in order to educate young people 16-30 on climate emotions, adaptable to different realities and local contexts. Prior to the delivery a training for trainers format is prepared, to empower the educators to deliver the workshops, especially its adaptation evaluation and monitoring of the results. This will feed directly into the creation of a booklet that will be published on the existing media of each partner which will serve as handbook and guidelines for the creation of local workshops and training activities. Each involved reality will carry out a local training for trainers, and dispose of a booklet/handbook translated in all the consortium languages, aiming at reaching minimum 500 local young people with the educational activities.
  • Feel4Climate Outreach: Upon completion of the workshops and collection of the results and outcomes an outreach conception hub is going to take place to conceptualise local multiplier events and coordinate the dissemination of the results. This will kick-start regional multiplier events and strategies to reach out to third parties to build strong local networks, and to showcase the results of the workshops, fostering the adoption of the booklet, toolbox and methodologies created across like-minded organisations and educational institutions.

LOCAL IMPACT

There is deficit of education on climate emotions among young people, this need is answered by offering tailored responses from the civil society. The aim is to make a first step towards increase climate-emotions awareness by disseminating the project results widely at multiplier events, to raise awareness on the need for measures to address this need, addressing local and European stakeholders. The aim is to give an opporutnity to learn from our results and use them to further the educational debate initiated by our activities. The booklet is going to guide a conceptual guide, while the toolbox will provide tangible materials and methods, as a strong instructive basis for actors in the field of youth and education to address the climate emotions. This will be a catalyst intended to enable organisations and institutions to act. A potential first step and milestone to create a transnational network on climate emotions, offering the opportunity to exchange ideas, cooperate and activate, creating a long lasting impact. The biggest envisaged impact is on the young people themselves in all partner countries, become self-effective multiples, playing a key role in raising awareness about climate emotions in Europe, a direct outreach of minimum 800 youths across Austria, Albania, Italy and Malta.
